A dental implant is a titanium or zirconium device, most often in the form of a screw that serves as a replacement
for the missing root of a natural tooth. The placement of the dental implant by a simple surgery (compared to an
extraction aggression) is made either after the extraction site is healed or immediately after the extraction.
The types of implants that we use in our office include those made in France by TBR. These implants provide
advantages over other dental implants.
The TBR implant with zirconia transgingival collar is a dental implant that factors in the needs of both the bone
and soft tissue of the periodontium and minimalizes peri-implantitis. The implant is made of two biocompatible
materials: the collar is made of zirconium and and the root is made of titanium. There is an absolute sealing
between the materials.
The zirconia transgingival collar:
• behaves as an antibacterial shield
• improves cellular adhesion and proliferation of fibroblasts
• generates gingival creeping attachment and reconstruction of the papillae
• provides better aesthetic support of gingival tissue
After insertion, the implant is attached to a piece of metal called an abutment
above which the dentist can place crowns, bridges or dentures that will replace
the missing tooth or teeth.
